Boyko Borissov was arrested!
The former prime minister was detained late last night after a large-scale operation related to the 120 reports of crimes in Bulgaria, which were announced by the European Chief Prosecutor Laura Coveschi, who was in Bulgaria yesterday.
According to her, the signals are for various crimes - fraud with European funds, public procurement, violations in the field of construction, as well as funds for recovery after the pandemic.
The former prime minister's home was searched, and he was taken out last night. Several other GERB members were also arrested, including former Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov and Borissov's personal publicist Sevdelina Arnaudova.
The three were transferred from the GDNP to the Seventh District Office.
The office is located near the DNSP building, where the investigation is underway, according to which the three were detained last night.
It must become clear today whether their detention by a prosecutor will be extended or they will be released.
The prosecutor's office announced that at 9 o'clock this morning they still do not have information about the actions of the investigations carried out in the conditions of urgency. The state prosecution reminds that according to the Bulgarian legislation, when carrying out actions of investigation "as a matter of urgency", the protocols should be submitted to a prosecutor for approval.
The current Prime Minister Kiril Petkov succinctly announced that no one is above the law.
