Bansko Has Opened the Skiing Season with Lots of Snow and Plenty of Awards

Bansko has opened skiing season 2023/2024 with lots of snow, awards, amusement, music and illumination. The famous “Treasure Hunters” game once again amused the ones at Banderishka meadow. The “Treasure Hunters” first prize – e-scooter Econic One City Bandit was won by Pepa Getova from Sofia.

"I am extremely happy about this award! My family rides bikes a lot and we recently bought an electric one, and the one I won is even faster and with more extras," the lucky girl shared with the host of the event, Deo, and specified with a wink: "I'll use it with pleasure, if I can share it with my daughter.'

Pepa Getova faced off in a battle against nearly 300 thrill seekers. For 60 minutes they waited patiently for their turn to join the great hunt for 35 prizes hidden in small chests under the snow.

Among them were 3 silver and 5 anniversary coins from Fibank, 15 smart watches from A1, as well as a seasonal card for the ski facilities in Bansko from "Yulen". Spa breaks, weekends for two, a selection of wines and shopping vouchers from the Maxsport boutique chain of sports equipment justified the efforts of the participants, who were not afraid of sub-zero temperatures for the sake of victory.

Three-time Olympic champion Deborah Compagnoni was a special guest at the opening of the ski season. Together with the ski legend Mark Girardelli, they made a parade down the "Alberto Tomba" track.

"It is a real pleasure for me to be in Bansko and to share with you this wonderful celebration of life and my favorite winter sport! Thanks to my dear friend Marc Girardelli for the invitation," Compagnoni said at a press conference. "I'm proud to have Deborah here - she's the greatest Italian skier of all time and I'm one of her biggest fans!" shared Marc Girardelli, adding: "We've witnessed a real miracle with the winter snow. It's just in time for Christmas and a perfect prelude to the ski world cup conditions we're looking forward to in February.”

A mass ski slalom of the children from the "Yulen" ski club officially marked the beginning of the new season in the resort, and a spectacular dawn in bright colors colored the sky over Banderishka Polyana.

Mihaela Fileva, DJ Sprite and ballet Nova took care of the good mood of the guests. After the emotionally-charged day at Banderishka Polyana, the celebrations for the start of the ski season moved to the square in Bansko with a folklore program and culinary demonstrations of local specialties.
