The Dalai Lama has issued an apology after allegations of inappropriate behavior were leveled against him for kissing a young boy on the lips and asking him to "suck his tongue" during a public event in India. The incident occurred in February at the Dalai Lama's temple in Dharamshala and involved around 100 young students who had just graduated from the Indian M3M Foundation.
In a video that went viral, the boy approached the Dalai Lama and asked to hug him, to which the spiritual leader motioned to his cheek for a kiss before kissing him on the lips and asking him to "suck his tongue." The incident was widely condemned as "inappropriate" and "disgusting," and prompted an apology from the office of the Dalai Lama, who characterized his behavior as "innocent and playful."
