It appears that Volodymyr Zelenskiy's recent trip to Poland was significant for several reasons. Unlike his previous foreign trips, which were kept secret, this visit was announced in advance and undertaken openly. This trip was also the first time that Zelenskiy and his wife had travelled abroad together since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
The main purpose of the visit was to express Ukraine's gratitude to Poland for its support during the ongoing conflict with Russia. Poland has been a vocal advocate for Ukraine in the international community, and has provided a safe haven for Ukrainian refugees as well as serving as a transit point for humanitarian aid and weapons bound for Ukraine.
During the visit, Zelenskiy and his wife were honoured by the Polish president, Andrzej Duda, who awarded Zelenskiy Poland's highest civilian distinction, the Order of the White Eagle. The visit was also marked by military honours, tributes, and praise for Zelenskiy and his wife.
